To mark the 700th anniversary of the Merchants’ Bridge, we invite you to join us every Sunday at 10.30 am from April to October 2025 for a unique guided tour that combines history, culture and small tastings - meeting point is the Erfurt Tourist Information Centre at Benediktsplatz 1.
Experience the bridge from new perspectives: our experienced guides bring its history to life with exciting anecdotes, while you can snap fascinating photos. The speciality: Enjoy delicious eggnog and the irresistible bridge truffle praline - a flavour experience that perfectly matches the history of the bridge. Book your guided tour for just €20 per person at www.erfurt-tourismus.de and be amazed! For groups of up to 15 people, we offer exclusive guided tours for €260.
Important: There are no guided tours on 15 June, during the Merchants’ Bridge Festival.

The way to the Merchants' Bridge - How to find Erfurt's landmark
The Krämerbrücke, the centrepiece of Erfurt, is located in the historic old town centre. You can easily reach it on foot from any direction. Follow the signs to ‘Altstadt’ or use the tram lines that stop at ‘Fischmarkt’ - from there it is only a few minutes' walk.
Once you arrive, charming half-timbered houses, unique shops and a special atmosphere await you. Let yourself drift and discover Erfurt's most famous bridge!
A quick glance at the map shows Erfurt's exceptionally favourable location in the centre of Germany. Thanks to its excellent transport connections, the state capital can be easily reached from many German and European cities within a few hours by train, car or coach. The A4 and A71 motorways intersect at the gates of the city and, together with the bypass, form the ‘Erfurter Ring’. In the city centre, the Juri-Gagarin Ring collects and distributes city traffic and at the same time ensures a traffic-calmed historic city centre.
For stationary traffic, the Park and Ride (P&R) areas on the inner and outer outskirts of the city and the car parks in the city centre offer sufficient space. A parking guidance system provides you with all the latest information on the availability of free spaces in the car parks.
With excellent connections, Erfurt has been the new ICE hub in German rail transport since 2017. Every day, 80 long-distance ICE trains stop at Erfurt main station. Use the optimal rail connections for your journey to Erfurt.
